Position Overview:

Talent Software Services is seeking an experienced Institutional Review Board (IRB) Specialist for a contract role. This position focuses on enhancing the integrity of human research and safeguarding the rights of research participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a diverse caseload of IRB applications, ensuring thorough analysis and compliance with applicable regulations.
  2. Act as a vital resource for the research community, providing expertise on federal and state regulations related to human subject research.
  3. Conduct detailed evaluations of submissions, assessing completeness and accuracy, and determining the necessary level of review.
  4. Facilitate effective communication between principal investigators, the Office for Human Subjects Protection, and IRB members.
  5. Serve as a voting member of the IRB, conducting expedited reviews and documenting findings to communicate outcomes to investigators.
  6. Oversee pre-meeting, meeting, and post-meeting activities, ensuring efficient agenda management and documentation.
  7. Guide and mentor IRB administrative staff to enhance operational efficiency.
  8. Participate in the training and orientation of new IRB members, fostering a comprehensive understanding of ethical research practices.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as natural sciences, social sciences, nursing, or health-related disciplines is required, along with a minimum of two years of experience in human subjects research. Alternatively, candidates with an Associate's degree and six years of relevant experience will be considered.

  • Exceptional organizational and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to apply knowledge of regulations and institutional policies to complex research scenarios.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in multimedia software applications, including databases and word processing tools.
