Job Overview

As a Retail Operations Leader for a prominent grocery retailer, you will initially serve as a Trainee for approximately 6-8 months. This training period will encompass all facets of store management, preparing you for the opportunity to oversee your own location. Your role will involve managing daily store functions, recruiting staff, organizing schedules, and analyzing performance metrics to celebrate successes and pinpoint areas for improvement while guiding and nurturing a team of associates.

Upon assignment to your designated store, you will operate it as if it were your own business, with support from the District Manager. Position Type: Full-Time

Estimated Hours: 45 hours per week

Starting Wage for Trainee: $25.50 per hour

Potential Earnings as a Store Manager in Year 1: Up to $100,000 (including salary and potential bonuses)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and team performance to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate and embody the company's core values to foster teamwork and a sense of belonging among employees.
  • Address customer inquiries and ensure satisfactory resolutions.
  • Maintain proper store signage and ensure product quality and freshness.
  • Assist in the recruitment process by reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
  • Prepare and manage weekly staff schedules to maintain optimal staffing levels.
  • Set clear job responsibilities and performance expectations for team members.
  • Conduct team meetings to enhance communication and performance.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for team members to improve performance.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and recommend promotions or terminations as necessary.
  • Achieve payroll and loss prevention targets.
  • Conduct cash audits in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor local market conditions and provide recommendations to maintain competitiveness.
  • Offer product feedback and suggestions for new items or discontinuations.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Oversee product merchandising and maintain appropriate stock levels through effective ordering.
  • Conduct inventory counts and reconciliations as per company guidelines.
  • Adhere to all company policies while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stock merchandise and lift products weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk throughout the store.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and foster open communication with team members.
  • Understanding of company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to set goals and guide team performance.
  • Capability to evaluate and enhance performance.
  • Understanding of management principles related to budgeting and expenses.
  • Proficient in operating a cash register.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and perform general cleaning duties.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Compliance with state and local regulations for handling alcoholic beverages.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in store or general management.
  • A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

Travel Requirements:

  • Flexibility to travel up to 1 hour for training purposes, primarily during the initial training period.
