Position Title: Clinical Laboratory Specialist - Day Shift

Job Overview: The Clinical Laboratory Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory while delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves performing and reporting various laboratory tests, contributing to the efficiency of laboratory processes.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM, with on-call duties and rotating weekends and holidays.

Department: Hematology

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures on adult and pediatric patients.
  • Perform and assess Quality Control measures.
  • Execute testing in Chemistry and Diagnostic Immunology.
  • Engage in proficiency testing and troubleshoot basic instrument issues.
  • Receive and process a variety of laboratory specimens, utilizing the Meditech computer system for data entry.
  • Conduct both STAT and routine testing accurately and promptly.
  • Assist in developing new methodologies and evaluating cost-effectiveness.
  • Train new staff on departmental procedures and policies.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement audits.
  • Fulfill on-call coverage responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. Registration or certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from ASCP or equivalent is highly preferred at the time of hire. Candidates who are preparing for certification exams will also be considered.
