Business Development and Proposal Writing Opportunity

Smithbucklin, a leading professional services company, is seeking a seasoned Business Development and Proposal Writer to join their New Business & Industry Relations team. This role will be based in either our Chicago or Washington, D.C. office.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, marketing, and proposal writing, with a proven track record of success in shaping new business opportunities and achieving sales results. They will be responsible for contributing to the company's new business development goal, which includes both association management and outsourced agency services.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. They will be highly organized, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and writing compelling proposals and presentations that articulate the value proposition and benefits of our services to potential clients.
  • Collaborating with business development, marketing, and other departments to gather necessary information and align proposal content with strategic goals.
  • Conducting thorough research on industry trends, competitor offerings, and potential client needs to inform and enhance proposal strategies.
  • Managing the proposal submission process, ensuring all proposals meet company standards and client requirements.
  • Editing and revising proposals based on feedback from stakeholders to improve clarity, impact, and effectiveness.

Preferred qualifications include experience with the Salesforce and/or other CRM platforms, as well as proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with associations and association management companies is also a plus.
