Job Summary

As a Specialized Behavioral Health Resource Parent Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the stability and well-being of children and youth in their homes. You will collaborate with Resource Parents and Community Umbrella Agency Case Managers to provide training, support, and coaching to maintain the child's or youth's stability and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in weekly one-hour supervision sessions
  • Maintain a maximum case load of 14 children and/or youth
  • Complete 40 hours of training in the first year and 20 annually thereafter, focused on trauma and behavioral health
  • Perform initial and quarterly home inspections, including children and youth, if present
  • Provide face-to-face support to Resource Parents at a minimum of two times per month, with more frequent and intense contacts for new placements and during periods of crisis
  • Develop and implement an Individualized Crisis Response Plan, in collaboration with the Resource Parent and Community Umbrella Agency Case Manager, within five days of the placement
  • Develop and implement a Resource Parent Support Plan specific to each child or youth within 30 days of the placement
  • Support Resource Parents with developing a plan to meet transportation needs of the child and youth, and may need to provide transportation, as necessary
  • Ensure Resource Parents are in compliance with medication administration documentation for content and timeliness, and provide feedback and development-focused corrective action, if necessary
  • Coordinate with Community Umbrella Agency Case Managers to provide updates on the child or youth and overall stability in the home, and ensure that the Agency schedules evaluations, appointments, behavioral health services, visitation, and teamings at times that are conducive to the Resource Parent's schedule
  • Assist Resource Parents in developing a perspective of behaviors as they may relate to trauma history, and coach them on parenting strategies that meet the needs of the child or youth in their home
  • Support Resource Parents in collaboration with behavioral health providers to ensure the consistent use of clinically sound approaches and strategies in the home and community settings
  • Maintain documentation of supports and interventions provided to Resource Parents, and ensure that substitute caregiving is in place with up-to-date clearances and childcare services
  • Ensure Resource Parents remain compliant according to PA Chapter 3700
  • May be required to attend court hearings
  • Must always use the approach 'See Something, Say Something, Do Something'
  • Notify management and Community Umbrella Agency if the child or youth experiences circumstances or exhibits behaviors that require Agency Case Manager response or any safety concerns/incidents, taking immediate action to maintain the child or youth's safety and well-being
  • Will be on-call to handle emergencies that may arise
  • Will serve as proxy for Resource Parents, in their absence
  • Other duties as assigned to support the mission of Pradera
