Job Summary

The Patient Access Specialist plays a vital role in supporting Patient Access Services and Clinics at the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center. This position requires a high level of customer service, technical skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Registers patients accurately and efficiently, ensuring integrity of patient data in Cerner and Centricity systems.
  • Conducts patient/guarantor interviews, explains hospital policies, financial responsibilities, and patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility for upcoming patient appointments using eligibility systems.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information, including patient records, charts, and employee information.
  • Provides advanced insurance verification and technical guidance to staff.
  • Facilitates training and orientation for new staff members and provides continuing education to existing staff.
  • Acts as a mentor, coach, and role model, promoting patient access initiatives and customer service excellence.
  • Provides financial counseling services for patients who are uninsured, under-insured, or scheduled for surgery.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree or progress towards degree preferred.
  • One year of demonstrated experience in customer service or patient access related functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, cash handling, multitasking, and excellent computer skills.
Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8AM-4:30PM, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
