Job Title: Payroll Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in Seattle, WA. This is a full-time, 6-month contract position that requires on-site work at the client location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll for all employees on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy in earnings, deductions, and benefits.
  • Enter payroll data such as hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and commissions into the payroll system.
  • Calculate and verify deductions, including taxes, insurance, retirement contributions, and garnishments.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, wage laws, and garnishments.
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns (e.g., Form 941, Form W-2).
  • Keep up-to-date with tax law changes and ensure company payroll processes are compliant.
  • Administer employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
  • Coordinate with the HR department to ensure proper enrollment and deduction amounts for employee benefits.
  • Process any changes in employee status affecting payroll (new hires, terminations, promotions).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including timekeeping, deductions, and employee profiles.
  • Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll inquiries promptly.
  • Prepare and submit necessary payroll reports for internal use and external audits.
  • Monitor employee attendance and timekeeping systems, ensuring that all hours worked are recorded correctly.
  • Address and resolve any discrepancies related to timecards or hours worked.
  • Ensure compliance with company timekeeping policies and overtime regulations.
  • Regularly audit payroll records for accuracy and compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Generate and provide payroll reports and analysis to management, including payroll costs, overtime, and other metrics.
  • Assist with audits by providing required documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with the HR department on employee data management and benefit coordination.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure payroll expenses are accurately reflected in financial statements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and updates in payroll technology and regulations.
  • Provide support during internal and external payroll audits.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2-4 years of experience in payroll processing or a related role.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Paylocity) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and integration with payroll.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:

$25-$31/hour DOE
