Job Summary

The Division Administrator is a key member of the Division of Hematology & Oncology at Columbia University Medical Center. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and administrative support to the Division Chiefs and faculty members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise Division Chiefs on strategic matters related to program planning, faculty recruitment, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans for the Division's growth and success.
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of faculty recruitment, including business plan development and offer packages.
  • Supervise financial and grants management personnel, and direct all aspects of sponsored research administration.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy of financial transactions and use of financial systems.
  • Administer the divisional physician compensation plan, including review of physician productivity and distribution of productivity income.
  • Supervise administrative support staff, and provide staff training and development opportunities.
  • Direct all aspects of Human Resources matters within the Divisions, including staff recruitment and onboarding.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five-seven years of related experience.
  • Experience in budgeting, accounts payable, clinical operation, revenue cycle, and research management.
  • Advanced skill level in Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact with all levels of faculty and staff.
  • Strong conceptual, financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or MHA.
  • Experience in an academic and/or clinical setting, including administration of federal grants.
  • Relevant experience managing a large division in an academic medical center, or in a similar environment.
