Job Summary

The Division Administrator is responsible for providing strategic leadership and administrative support to the Hematology & Oncology Division at Columbia University Medical Center. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management, research administration, and human resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise Division Chiefs on strategic matters related to program planning, faculty recruitment, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of faculty recruitment, including business plan development and offer packages.
  • Supervise financial and grants management personnel, ensuring compliance and accuracy of financial transactions.
  • Direct all aspects of sponsored research administration, including pre- and post-award support and effort reporting.
  • Manage divisional budgeting and financial projections, including budget development and reconciliation.
  • Supervise administrative support staff, ensuring faculty members receive appropriate administrative support.
  • Direct all aspects of Human Resources matters within the Divisions, including staff recruitment and onboarding.
  • Oversee clinical operations, including management of clinical support personnel and nurses.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five-seven years of related experience.
  • Experience in budgeting, accounts payable, clinical operation, revenue cycle, and research management.
  • Advanced skill level in Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to represent the Divisions and Division Chiefs at high organizational levels.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of faculty and staff, as well as internal and external constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or MHA strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an academic and/or clinical setting that includes administration of federal grants.
  • Relevant experience managing a large division in an academic medical center, or in a similar environment.
