About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our dynamic team on 4A Inpatient Rehab unit. As a valued member of our patient care support team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our patients' recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily living activities, therapies, and provide vital feedback to our nursing staff.
  • Support unit activities, such as responding to call lights, passing meal trays, and transporting patients.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, monitor vital signs, and assist with patient care equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment, acquire and distribute supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with the healthcare team, understand cultural diversity, and support workplace safety.
  • Provide direct patient care as directed by the RN, ensure patient safety and cleanliness, and deliver patient nourishments and mail.
  • Provide diversional activities, document in medical records, complete clerical functions, and comply with safety policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of UPMC nursing assistant or EIC training program.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
Clearances and Certifications
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
