We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Scientist to join our team at Jefferson County, Colorado. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting forensic analyses, providing expert testimony, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic analyses of biological evidence, including DNA analysis, to aid in the investigation and prosecution of crimes.
- Prepare and present expert testimony in court, providing clear and concise explanations of forensic findings.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to provide technical assistance and support in the investigation of crimes.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the handling and analysis of forensic evidence.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of forensic results.
- Stay current with advances in forensic science and technology, attending conferences and workshops as needed.
- Provide training and guidance to less experienced staff members on forensic techniques and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as forensic science, biology, or chemistry.
- Minimum three years of experience in a forensic science laboratory or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to work in a laboratory setting, with occasional travel to court and other locations as needed. The ability to work outside of normal business hours may be required.
