Applying for this role is the initial step towards securing a position as a CT Imaging Technician at one of Kaiser Permanente's leading hospitals and clinics in the Pacific Northwest. This application initiates an external hiring process designed to streamline and expedite the recruitment of CT Imaging Technicians who are not currently employed by Kaiser Permanente.

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, operates CT scanners and other radiographic equipment to generate high-quality diagnostic images. Performs all duties, including clerical tasks as necessary, in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the mission and philosophy of KPNW.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures, utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the age of the patient, including routine, emergent, biopsy, and/or special procedure examinations in accordance with departmental policies. Communicate essential information to other healthcare team members. Provide service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures and addressing inquiries. Implement appropriate measures (ALARA principles) to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Manage filing, reception, and computer tasks, including PACs functions. Administer contrast media as directed, following all policies and procedures. Protocol exams according to established departmental directives. Assist in screening patients for contraindications.
  • Perform quality assurance functions and troubleshoot equipment. Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned. Assist with patient transport as necessary. Report equipment malfunctions appropriately. Participate in on-call or standby schedules as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CT Imaging Technician within the past two years or a minimum of six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting within the last year.
  • Current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived per the National Agreement.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Oregon) required at hire OR Registered Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography required at hire.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification required at hire from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Proof of continuing education.
  • Mandatory Infection Control education and training will occur annually. Knowledge and skills in Infection Control shall be evaluated annually through oral or written assessments per KPNW policy and/or requirements.
  • Demonstrates customer-focused service skills.
  • Ability to apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills with peers and administration.
  • Performs all functions competently without direct supervision.
  • IV Certification will be obtained annually.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in CT using helical and/or multi-detector technology.
  • Attendance at CT and cross-sectional anatomy courses.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, prioritization, planning, attention to detail, problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, technical skills, initiative, communication, interpersonal skills, customer relations, and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Familiarity with Policies and Procedures.
  • Associates degree or higher in Radiologic Science or related field.
  • Bachelors degree in Radiologic Science.
