Available Opportunities:
We have multiple openings in the East Portland area, with positions available at various locations.
Shifts Offered: Day, Night, and Variable shifts are available.
Float Differential Potential: $2.00/Hr.
Overview of the Role:
The selected candidate will operate CT scanners and other imaging equipment under direct supervision, ensuring the production of high-quality diagnostic images. The role includes performing various duties, including clerical tasks, while promoting teamwork and reflecting the mission and philosophy of Kaiser Permanente.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures, utilizing the necessary skills and knowledge for the patient demographic, including routine, emergent, and special procedure examinations, adhering to departmental policies.
- Provide effective communication with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any inquiries while applying safety measures to minimize radiation exposure.
- Manage administrative tasks, including filing and computer operations, and assist with patient screening for contraindications.
- Perform quality assurance checks and troubleshoot equipment as needed, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the assigned workspace.
- Assist with patient transport and participate in on-call schedules as required.
- Experience: A minimum of one (1) year as a CT technologist within the last two years, or at least six (6) months in an acute hospital setting within the past year.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Licenses and Certifications: Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Oregon) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (Washington) is required at hire, along with certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire.
- Proof of continuing education is necessary.
- Annual mandatory infection control education and training will be required.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with peers and administration.
- Capability to perform all functions competently without direct supervision.
- IV Certification must be obtained annually.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Prior experience with helical and/or multi-detector CT technology.
- Attendance at relevant courses in CT and cross-sectional anatomy.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and departmental policies.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science or a related field is preferred.
