The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care on a nursing unit/department according to unit policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include assessing the patient\u2019s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis, developing and communicating a plan of care, implementing and coordinating the plan of care, and evaluating the effectiveness of the plan of care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric cardiac care and be proficient in the use of computer software to include electronic patient records.

* Assess the patient\u2019s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis
* Develop and communicate a plan of care
* Implement and coordinate the plan of care
* Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care
* Plan for education and provide educational opportunities
* Function as a preceptor to new staff
* Function as a charge nurse
* Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development
* Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of established policies governing the care of a patient being monitored for cardiac arrhythmias
* Demonstrate skill and knowledge in arrhythmia
* Demonstrate competency in the care of the pediatric patient using the principles of child growth and development as appropriate to the sick child
* Demonstrate competency in the care of the pediatric patient and family using the principles of family-centered care
* Demonstrate skill and knowledge of accurate preparation and administration of pediatric medication

* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
* Proficient in the use of computer software to include electronic patient records
* Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
* BLS certification required
* Ability to use the internet for literature searches regarding care for patients
