The role is focused on providing support to the Chief Systems Engineer and Assistant Program Manager Engineering, along with subordinate Assistant Program Manager Systems Engineers (APMSEs) or Division/Branch Heads and their teams. This involves delivering comprehensive multi-disciplinary research and development, integrated technical baseline development, and evaluation, as well as engineering assessments of the program's progress towards fulfilling required developmental tasks. The goal is to ensure that the technical baseline is sufficiently mature for subsequent stages of development.

Junior Level:

  • Education: A Technical BS or BA degree in Computer Science or a related IT field is required.
  • Experience: Involvement in researching, designing, and developing software for computers and networks, or specialized utility programs.
  • Ability to analyze user requirements and devise software solutions, utilizing principles and techniques from computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Updating or enhancing existing software capabilities is expected. Collaboration with computer hardware engineers may be necessary to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and establish performance requirements.
  • May be responsible for maintaining databases within an application area, either independently or as part of a team.

Journeyman Level:

  • Education: A Technical BS or BA degree in Computer Science or a related IT field is required.
  • Experience: Engaging in research, design, and development of software for computers and networks, or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyzing user needs and creating software solutions, applying principles and techniques from computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Updating or enhancing existing software capabilities is a key responsibility.
  • Collaboration with computer hardware engineers may be required to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and establish performance requirements.
  • May involve maintaining databases within an application area, either independently or as part of a team.

Senior Level:

  • Education: This position requires a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience and a Technical BS or BA degree in Computer Science or a related IT field.
  • Experience: Involvement in researching, designing, and developing software for computers and networks, or specialized utility programs.
  • Ability to analyze user needs and create software solutions, applying principles and techniques from computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Updating or enhancing existing software capabilities is expected.
  • Collaboration with computer hardware engineers may be necessary to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and establish performance requirements.
  • May be responsible for maintaining databases within an application area, either independently or as part of a team.
