Overview: A leading client in the retail sector is seeking an Associate Merchandiser to enhance their expanding international operations.

Position Type: Full-time, direct hire

Location: Onsite in a dynamic environment

Compensation: Competitive salary range of $75,000 - $85,000, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including a 401k match.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and communicate product assortments, line sheets, and inventory while reviewing sales and sample orders for distributor partners.
  • Assess performance of best and worst-selling items and strategize accordingly.
  • Continuously monitor order and sales status to identify missed opportunities and propose actionable recommendations to boost sales.
  • Present product lines confidently and address challenging inquiries during presentations.

Daily and Weekly Duties:

  • Take ownership of product lines and brand initiatives, tailoring assortments to meet market demands.
  • Engage with international partners to grasp product availability, sales samples, trends, marketing strategies, and overall product direction.
  • Maintain accurate line sheets, including new additions, drops, and reductions for select markets.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly meetings with partners to evaluate business status and requirements.
  • Analyze overall sales performance to identify categories experiencing growth or decline.
  • Provide timely responses to inquiries and relay all product and business-related information to partners, considering international time differences.
  • Review and analyze sales data by country for assigned product lines, reporting on business trends and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Regularly assess product assortments to ensure key initiatives are represented and make informed recommendations for styles suitable for distributor markets.
  • Collaborate with international merchandising and planning teams to optimize sales and manage product opportunities.
  • Adopt an assertive sales approach, demonstrating influence in various communication formats.
  • Generate and review reports to deliver insightful analysis.
  • Initiate and create reports by utilizing data from internal systems.
  • Engage in corporate product review meetings to curate key initiative assortments biannually.
  • Attend global product conferences twice a year, acting as a host and supporting presentations and review sessions.
  • Communicate and collaborate with senior management on international strategies.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in merchandising or buying within the footwear, apparel, or accessories sectors.
  • In-depth product knowledge across a wide range of SKUs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and v-lookups.
  • Comfortable delivering presentations and addressing questions confidently.
  • Possess a global perspective and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptable to changing business needs and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of quality work, well-organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners and international teams.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering team collaboration.
  • Skilled in creating and managing timelines and calendars effectively.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in merchandising with a focus on high SKU volumes.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • International experience is advantageous.
  • Background in sales or wholesale is a plus.
