About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to lead our team in designing and implementing electrical systems for our campus facilities. As the Head Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for new and existing campus facilities
  • Oversee the work of in-house electrical engineers and student workers or interns
  • Manage work performed by design professionals employed by UGA and contracted design professionals
  • Confer with and advise faculty, administrative personnel, and officials within UGA regarding proposed electrical construction and alterations
  • Update UGA design standards incorporating lessons learned and revising as needed to keep up with the latest codes, standards, and technological changes
  • Assist Operations & Maintenance and Utilities & Energy Management personnel with MV distribution systems and switchgear issues on campus
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience designing electrical systems in buildings and medium voltage distribution (4160 V)
  • Proficient with software such as Revit, Autocad, SKM, Visual (lighting design software), ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently with some direction from the Director of Engineering
