About the Role:

Sugarbush Resort is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Restaurant Manager to join our team at Rumble's Bistro and Bar, our premier restaurant located at the base of the mountain at Lincoln Peak.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up daily floor plans for front-of-house employees
  • Maintain and organize lunch and/or dinner seating charts as needed
  • Provide on-the-job training for front-of-house servers and support team members during every shift
  • Perform daily and nightly administrative duties, including tip sheets and updating menus as needed
  • Resolve staffing issues and unexpected absences from work
  • Resolve guest issues and create a welcoming atmosphere to generate return guest visits
  • Provide excellent customer service and leadership for all guests and team members
  • Ensure proper service etiquette is executed by all staff
  • Delegate tasks with a smile and demonstrate a true team player attitude
  • Communicate clearly with staff of all events and business needs
  • Deliver employee corrective actions and use mistakes as training experiences
  • Properly write schedules according to business needs
  • Have a strong knowledge of menu layout and verbiage
  • Attend weekly Banquet Event Order (BEO) with Sales & Marketing
  • Ensure all areas of the restaurant are ready for daily service
  • Communicate actively with Marketing department to promote specials and events
  • Properly manage products, including accurate ordering and monthly inventory
  • Organize and maintain the cleanliness of the entire restaurant
  • Execute large group events
  • Uphold Alterra Mtn. Co. core values

Requirements:

  • 2-year minimum experience in restaurant supervision or management
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to follow through, organized, motivated, and able to maintain a calm, positive attitude during high-stress periods
  • POS and administrative experience - Microsoft Office, reservation system knowledge
  • Possession of a well-rounded knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers of varying backgrounds, experience, and skill levels
  • Ability to control costs, including labor and COGs
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation, especially in winter
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Must be responsible for learning and becoming proficient in company software: Work Day, UKG, RTP, Yelp Reservations, and any other systems assigned
  • Must have a hospitality-related degree or minimum 5 years in a related field
  • Must have or obtain a valid food handler's license and VT Liquor certification
  • Knowledge of different restaurant POS systems
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume food service setting
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus but not mandatory
