POSITION SUMMARY

BANKING ASSOCIATE I

Under general supervision, carry out essential transactional responsibilities to assist members by receiving or disbursing funds with precision and efficiency utilizing a computer system. A service-oriented professional committed to surpassing the expectations of each member served while achieving the designated transactional objectives.

Delivers fundamental cash receipt and payment services to members in alignment with credit union policies and procedures. Maintains precise transactional records and reconciles each day's cash drawer according to the Teller Accuracy Guidelines. Directs members to Member Service Representatives for product information and/or services that best suit their financial requirements. Remains vigilant against counterfeit monetary instruments.

BANKING ASSOCIATE II

Under general supervision, proficiently execute routine transactional duties to assist members using a computer while achieving the established transactional goals. A professional dedicated to exceeding the expectations of each member served. Provides basic cash receipt and payment services to members in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Maintains accurate transactional records and balances each day's operations in accordance with the Teller Accuracy Guidelines.

Refers members to Member Service Representatives for product information and/or services that best meet their financial needs. Acts as a mentor (teller trainer) for newly hired Banking Associate I incumbents and possesses knowledge of basic new member account opening processes. Understands and can explain ATM operations and online banking features. Remains alert to prevent fraud and counterfeit monetary instruments.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma (general studies) – Required
  • General Education Degree (GED) – In Lieu of H.S. Diploma

EXPERIENCE

  • Banking Associate I - Six (6) months Cash Handling/Sales/Customer Service/Teller Experience - Required
  • Banking Associate II - Twelve (12) months Cash Handling/Sales/Customer Service/Teller Experience – Required

QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Compliance with BSA, Privacy Act & Elder Abuse reporting is a REQUIREMENT.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to Learn and Apply Procedures.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

There may be instances related to MECU business operations that may periodically necessitate reporting to a different branch/work location.

As a Banking Associate, you must also be willing to provide service to members through various channels, including branches and ITM (Interactive Teller Machines) terminals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the successful candidate is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, keyboards, or controls; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel. Must regularly lift and/or move files and equipment up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25-pound objects. Specific vision characteristics required by this position include close vision, adjusted focus, and the ability to view a computer screen for extended periods.
