Teleradiology Coordinator Job Description

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Teleradiology Coordinator to join the team in providing critical administrative support for teleradiology services. The successful candidate will be responsible for registering radiographic studies and patient information, ensuring timely patient study results are returned to contracted sites, and coordinating patient care services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Match patient information with current studies, edit to ensure easy retrieval by radiologists, and identify, edit, and synchronize prior studies for comparison.
  • Coordinate follow-on actions with reading radiologists, including connecting providers with radiologists and advising technicians of corrective or additional actions requested by radiologists.
  • Research conflicting patient information to achieve accuracy and currency, and make corrections as needed.
  • Work with site representatives to resolve discrepancies regarding patient identities or study requirements, and make changes in systems as necessary.
  • Manage image transmission issues by researching study status, taking administrative corrective action, and apprising outside entities as needed.
  • Manage patient medical records and radiological images to ensure background information is available to sites, coordinate information exchange between radiologists and providers, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Provide technical advice to outside sites, particularly in complex situations that deviate from policy or procedure, and ensure a high degree of confidentiality and conflict resolution.
  • Recommend or assist in budget preparation, payroll, office space management, equipment, and other logistical matters in a changing environment.
  • Recommend solutions for operational efficiency to interpreting radiologists.
  • Report systemic problems encountered in receipt of images to the appropriate entity and flow through to resolution.
  • Provide cross-coverage and cross-training for coworkers to ensure coverage during absences and meet productivity metrics.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • At least one year of relevant experience
Physical Demands:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job occasionally requires traveling to attend meetings and programs.
