Radiology Teleradiology Coordinator

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia seeks a full-time Teleradiology Coordinator to provide critical administrative support in teleradiology. The Teleradiology Coordinator registers radiographic studies and patient information to ensure timely patient study results are returned to contracted sites, facilitating coordinated patient care services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Match patient information with current studies, editing to ensure easy retrieval by radiologists, and identifying, editing, and synchronizing prior studies for comparison.
- Coordinate follow-on actions with reading radiologists, including connecting providers with radiologists and advising technicians of corrective actions requested by radiologists.
- Research conflicting patient information to achieve accuracy and currency, making corrections as needed.
- Work with site representatives to resolve discrepancies regarding patient identities or study requirements, making changes in systems when necessary.
- Manage image transmission issues by researching study status, taking administrative corrective action, and apprising external entities when necessary.
- Ensure patient medical records and radiological images are available to sites, coordinating information exchange between radiologists and providers, and completing corrective actions.
- Provide technical advice to outside sites, particularly in complex situations deviating from policy or procedure, ensuring confidentiality and conflict resolution.
- Recommend solutions for operational efficiency to interpreting radiologists and report systemic problems encountered in image receipt to the appropriate entity for resolution.
- Provide cross-coverage and cross-training for coworkers to ensure coverage during absences, meeting productivity metrics.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- At least one year of relevant experience
Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers, with occasional travel for meetings and programs.
This position is open to a hybrid work schedule and is a restricted position dependent on project need, availability of funding, and performance.
