POSITION SUMMARY:

The Logistics Operations Supervisor is essential in ensuring effective communication across all organizational levels while delivering exceptional internal and external customer service. This role involves overseeing driver dispatching, ensuring timely deliveries, and providing ongoing support to drivers throughout their shifts, including redirecting them to maintain accuracy and consistency in pickups and deliveries.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate communication with drivers and volunteers to guarantee seamless operations and prompt food pickups and deliveries.
  • Oversee all driver routes and conditions for precision and efficiency, adjusting routes as necessary to prevent delays while maintaining effective communication with drivers, the warehouse, and the distribution team during any route changes or challenges.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and allocation teams to ensure the correct loading and unloading of orders and donations.
  • Keep precise records of transportation activities, including driver logs and delivery and pickup reports.
  • Work alongside warehouse staff to ensure the proper storage and handling of donated food items.
  • Address inquiries and requests for assistance from partner agencies and community members regarding food distribution.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess transportation performance and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Create and uphold Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Resolve any issues or concerns that arise during transport operations in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Assist drivers with any challenges encountered during their shifts.
  • Support the training and supervision of volunteers involved in food pickup and delivery operations.
  • Comply with all safety protocols and regulations related to food handling and transportation.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; further education or training in logistics or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation coordination is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint) and logistics software (Omnitracs experience preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent analytical, data interpretation, planning, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Commitment to serving others while fully supporting the organization's mission and values is required.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License and a reliable, insured personal vehicle are mandatory.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Hours of Operation: The organization operates Monday-Friday, 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., though this position may require occasional additional hours throughout the year, particularly during peak times such as holiday seasons and disaster response.
  • Environment: This role is primarily office-based, involving varying periods of standing, talking, and visual concentration, as well as the use of office equipment. Adherence to office safety standards is required. Occasional work may occur in the warehouse or outdoors in inclement weather, with noise levels typically moderate to loud.
  • Travel: This position may necessitate travel for meetings, conferences, or special events within the service area, potentially requiring the use of a personal vehicle.
  • OSHA Standards: Lifting requirements are up to 50 pounds; for loads exceeding this weight, teamwork is necessary for safe lifting.
