Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Brokerage Representative to join our team at Geodis. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing daily Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) operations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between Geodis and our customers, providing exceptional service and support for all customs brokerage and FTZ-related functions.
  • Transaction Processing: Process daily FTZ transactions, including CBP Form 214 Admissions, CBP Form 7512 in-bonds, CBP Form 216 Annual and individual permits, and CBP Form 349 Harbor Maintenance Fee.
  • PGA Coordination: Coordinate all Participating Government Agency (PGA) information, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Cargo Management: Open files, enter notes, information, and document requests in CargoWise and/or the Foreign-Trade Zone system.
  • Invoice and Manifest Management: Enter invoice and manifest information into the FTZ System and CargoWise, and submit invoice packets weekly to customers.
  • Document Requests: Send information/document requests to customers as needed for PMD product master information.
  • Communication and Compliance: Communicate with government agencies, customers, carriers, and operations on all issues affecting customs brokerage and FTZ, ensuring compliance with U.S. Government regulatory agencies.
  • Shipping Coordination: Coordinate shipping details with U.S. Forwarders, Steamship Lines, Airlines, Agents, etc.
  • Weight and Volume Verification: Convert and verify shipment weight, volume, and foreign currency from documents, operations, or customer.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain communication with customers, carriers, and vendors.
  • In-Bond Moves: Work with operations and forwarders on in-bond moves into and out of the FTZ.
  • Customer Support: Assist customers with questions, complaints, requests, tracking, and tracing.
  • Accounting Processes: Handle accounting processes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Shipments Coordination: Coordinate shipments from airline, ocean piers, and CFS to the FTZ and exports from the FTZ to the airline, ocean piers, and CFS.
  • Documentation Review: Review documentation or issue documents to meet government regulations and carrier regulations.
  • Operational Exceptions: Must have knowledge of FTZ regulations and bring operational exceptions to the attention of the Operations Manager - Customs Brokerage, FTZ.
  • Customer Service: Ensure email and telephone calls are promptly and politely answered.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in customs brokerage, FTZ, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of U.S. Government Agency requirements, U.S. Customs, and PGA requirements with the FTZ.
  • Technical Skills: PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Work, Access, and Excel.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers.
  • Planning and Organization: Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Reading and Writing: Ability to read and interpret documents, and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Common Sense: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Multi-Tasking: Ability to multi-task.
  • Mathematical Skills: Mathematical skills essential to ensure accuracy in calculations.
