Position Overview: The Trade Compliance Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to customs regulations and standards. This position involves the meticulous review and audit of customs entries to guarantee compliance with all applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classify products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUSA).
  • Interpret and apply regulatory and judicial decisions from Customs and Border Protection to product classifications.
  • Identify and assess requirements from other government agencies that pertain to specific products.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients regarding product design and sourcing to optimize import duties.
  • Document classification and other government agency determinations in the product library or designated storage.
  • Engage with clients and government representatives to discuss product lines and compliance matters.
  • Represent the organization at relevant industry events and forums.
  • Compile and prepare various operational reports, including forecasts for upcoming shipments and items currently in transit.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of product lines to ensure compliance with classification and regulatory standards.
  • Generate reports such as monthly customs data summaries, broker scorecards, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Oversee and mentor team members on classification and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in customs brokerage or import operations.
  • Proven expertise in classifying textiles, apparel, and accessories.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adept at interpreting and analyzing complex regulations and technical documents.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional relationships.
  • Strong judgment and technical skills in applying compliance standards.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and demanding environment.
