Job Description

Job Title: Customs Brokerage Manager

Job Summary:

The Customs Brokerage Manager is a key role within GEODIS, responsible for directing the operations of the customs brokerage department and ensuring a compliant, productive, and profitable operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Management: Direct and manage a team of customs brokers, ensuring they are productive and meeting performance targets.
  • Compliance: Maintain high compliance standards for customs brokerage, staying up-to-date with new regulations and ensuring requests from customs are handled in a timely manner.
  • Account Management: Establish and manage new accounts, based on review of POA and completed client information sheets.
  • Financial Management: Manage P&Ls against budget and all accounting associated with the station.
  • Training and Development: Train individuals within the team to take responsibility for new client accounts.
  • Problem-Solving: Resolve problems, troubleshoot, and review daily reports to eliminate potential errors.
  • Employee Management: Manage employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation, and coaching.
  • Time and Attendance: Ensure assigned work group members have recorded time and attendance.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 to 8 years relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Brokerage License required for Customs Brokerage managers.
  • Skills: PC literate and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Communication: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Writing: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Presentation: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpretation: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
