Position Overview:

The ARA Electromagnetic Testing & Technology Development Center is seeking an Electronics Technician. In this capacity, you will engage in both laboratory and field evaluations while contributing to the advancement of innovative electromagnetic technologies. Your responsibilities will also encompass purchasing, inventory management, shipping and receiving, as well as maintaining the facility.

As a vital member of an engineering team, you will conduct experiments utilizing high voltage and RF testing apparatus. This role requires proficiency with various electronic testing instruments, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers, to perform scientific measurements and assess the performance of different devices. You will assist in circuit assembly, design and fabrication of testing setups, execution of tests, and documentation of findings.

Travel Requirements:

This position may necessitate travel to remote locations for testing purposes, utilizing specialized equipment. You will play a key role in test planning, preparation, execution, and reporting, which includes managing logistics such as equipment rentals, creating packing lists, and maintaining an inventory of tools and devices. You will utilize hand tools and power tools to build test fixtures and assemble hardware.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and basic power tools.
  • Capability to lift specified weights.
  • Familiarity with fundamental electronics principles.
  • Proficiency in accurately documenting work in a laboratory notebook.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Experience working in a Research and Development and Testing environment, often without detailed written instructions.
  • Must be a United States citizen and possess, or be eligible to obtain, a Secret or higher Department of Defense Security Clearance.
