Electronics Technician

Key Responsibilities:

The Electronics Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electronic systems, including both analog and digital components. This role involves the fabrication of electronic systems tailored to specific research needs and performing calibrations of measurement systems and equipment. The technician will also support Continuous Improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Utilizes knowledge of A.C. and D.C. circuits (both analog and digital) for the fabrication, modification, and repair of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs PID control systems at the subassembly level.
  • Fabricates instrumentation and equipment using established techniques in metalworking, wiring, soldering, desoldering, and assembly.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance and calibrations, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintains calibration certificates for all standards, keeping an updated record of calibration dates and due dates.
  • Works effectively within the documentation system, adhering to priority, instructions, completion dates, overtime authorization, and safety protocols.
  • Provides comprehensive information regarding work performed to ensure documentation remains current.
  • Offers backup support to electro-mechanical technicians, managing emergency trouble calls and being available for on-call duties.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental ISO procedures.
  • Performs additional assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications for Success:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of 2 years of technical coursework in electronics or instrumentation preferred.
  • No prior experience necessary.
  • Special Skills:
    • Ability to read and modify schematics.
    • Automotive background is advantageous.
    • Must possess a personal set of basic electronic tools.
    • Availability for on-call duties is required.
    • Willingness to work unscheduled overtime may be necessary.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Periodic exposure to heat and fumes may occur. The role may involve working in confined spaces or limited crawl areas. Use of safety equipment such as earplugs, safety shoes, and glasses is required.
