About the Role

Bridgewater College is seeking a highly skilled and organized individual to serve as the Learning Services Librarian. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop, coordinate, and deliver research and learning programs across the curriculum, ensuring alignment with the College's academic goals.
  • Instructional Materials: Create and maintain instructional materials and web pages to facilitate the use of library resources, promoting effective learning outcomes.
  • Reference and Research Support: Provide reference and research support virtually and in person, including evening and weekend hours as necessary, to ensure students receive timely assistance.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Collaborate with IT's Instructional Designer to develop innovative approaches in pedagogical strategies with faculty, enhancing the learning experience.
  • Student Support: Develop and manage the Student Peer Research Consultant program, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Library Services: Manage library services content management platform, Springshare, ensuring seamless access to resources.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Troubleshoot problems and provide instruction and assistance in the use of technology, including copiers, printers, room reservation system, scanners, AV equipment, microform readers, and other equipment.
  • Liaison and Collection Development: Serve as a liaison to academic departments, participating in collection development in reference and assigned subject areas, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • Professional Development: Engage in regular professional development activities, staying current in reference, research, and pedagogical techniques in a digital environment, to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Reporting and Statistics: Compile and prepare statistics and reports as requested, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Encourage and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty and staff, promoting a culture of teamwork and open communication.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: ALA-accredited master's degree in Library or Information Science is required.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Supervisory Experience: Skills in supervising subordinate staff, especially 18-21 year-old adults, are preferred.
  • Reference Experience: Experience providing reference service in an academic, public, or corporate library is preferred.
  • Instructional Experience: Experience in developing effective library instruction and creating online guides and/or online tutorials is preferred.
  • Springhare Experience: Experience using the Springshare platform is preferred.
  • Teaching Experience: Experience in conducting library instruction or teaching in an academic environment is preferred.
