The Role
We are seeking a Commercial Operations Manager to join our team in the New York area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for training, supervising, and monitoring work activities of employees and clients. You will analyze, establish, or adjust work schedules to ensure completion of job assignments.
Responsibilities and Skills
- Provide labor on short notice to meet client needs.
- Recommend improvements to cleaning methods and quality of service.
- Interpret department procedures and enforce safety regulations.
- Develop strong communication skills (oral and written) to effectively interact with clients and employees.
- Possess a valid driver's license to facilitate work-related travel.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, to accommodate client needs.
- Be available to work during emergency situations, such as floods or snowstorms.
- Have knowledge of the commercial janitorial industry and its operations.
- Familiarity with stripping and waxing floors, shampooing carpets, and creating section lists.
- Understand commercial, union janitorial operations, including staffing, progressive discipline, sectioning, and computerized payroll.
- Be proficient in using smartphones and iPads for inspections.
- Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Implement and give verbal and written instructions to employees.
- Prioritize and plan work to meet deadlines and interpret specifications and requisition materials.
- Ability to carry, lift, push, or pull thirty (30) pounds or more.
- Knowledge of Excel and basic math to manage work-related tasks.
- Handle special projects as assigned by management.
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in a supervisory level position.
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in floor maintenance, window cleaning, and general cleaning.
Desired Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and employees.
- Ability to prioritize work load, be organized, and detail-oriented.
- Professionalism and flexibility to assist and accommodate client needs.
- Residing in New Jersey is preferred, but not required.
- Enthusiasm and a positive, can-do attitude to excel in this role.
- Spanish or Eastern European proficiency is a plus.
