SNAP-Ed Nutrition Specialist

Position Overview:
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County is seeking two full-time SNAP-Ed Nutritionists to operate from the Buffalo, NY office, working 40 hours weekly.

Role Responsibilities:
The SNAP-Ed Nutritionist will be tasked with implementing established nutrition education initiatives aimed at enhancing healthy eating and lifestyle choices among diverse populations, including families and individuals of all ages across the Western SNAP-Ed Region.

This role will also involve collaborating with fellow nutritionists to promote SNAP-Ed programs effectively.

Key Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community Health, Health Education, or Public Health. An Associate's Degree with two years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Relevant experience in nutrition education or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and maintaining cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian credential.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and food preparation practices.
  • Experience in delivering educational programs to various age groups.

Essential Duties:

  • Deliver high-quality nutrition education programming to targeted audiences through workshops, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Adapt existing educational materials to meet program objectives.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote SNAP-Ed initiatives.
  • Assist in program evaluation and improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary reports.
