Position Overview

Oversee the development, implementation, and dissemination of the organization's strategic goals. Assist the executive team in making informed decisions regarding strategic direction, resource distribution, business prospects, and risk management. Evaluate strategic projects and proposals to determine their viability and impact, while monitoring and reporting on the progress of these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Execution
  • Lead the development, implementation, and communication of the department's strategic goals.
  • Assist management in making informed decisions about strategic direction, resource allocation, business opportunities, and risk management.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of strategic initiatives and proposals to assess their feasibility and potential impact.
  • Challenge business stakeholders to critically examine assumptions and identify potential risks and weaknesses in strategic plans.
  • Identify and assess internal and external business opportunities, analyzing commercial potential, feasibility, cost implications, and associated risks.
  • Create regular and on-demand presentations and reports, including Management Information and the underlying data analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to investigate discrepancies or anomalies in processes that significantly impact the business, clearly articulating issues and proactively proposing viable solutions with effective follow-up.
  • Enhance data management and reporting capabilities to effectively communicate the department's global business and achievements, documenting these processes in the Planning Group procedure manual for clarity and sustainability.
  • Support various projects and activities as needed within the Planning Group.
Key Responsibilities: Relationship Management
  • Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders across the American Division and global offices to foster trust and promote information sharing in the development, tracking, and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Encourage collaboration between business areas and support functions, including legal, compliance, and risk management, to ensure alignment and establish comprehensive control frameworks to mitigate risks.
  • Manage communications to the broader workforce and external stakeholders to raise awareness of strategic accomplishments and foster support for new business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external communications teams to convey key messages effectively.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to management and other key executives, refining management objectives and seeking support for strategic deliverables as necessary.
Key Responsibilities: Expertise Development
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of management priorities and the business landscape through consistent delivery of impactful departmental strategy initiatives.
  • Utilize a nuanced understanding of business dynamics, competitive landscape, cost structure, and risk exposure to conduct thorough assessments of new strategic ventures.
  • Generate insights to facilitate informed management decisions regarding the strategic agenda.
  • Employ effective communication skills to articulate a clear vision of strategic deliverables and encourage buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continuously seek feedback and insights from stakeholders on the strategic agenda to assess impact and perception.
  • Leverage internal and external networks to identify business opportunities.
  • Possess strong numerical, accounting, and financial skills, with the ability to critically analyze financial information in the context of trade finance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential (including pivot tables, vlookup functions, graphs, etc.), while knowledge of Power BI and Tableau is a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written presentation skills to clearly and concisely explain complex issues, utilizing visual aids as necessary. Strong written communication skills are required to document work logically and clearly in procedures.
  • Prior experience in financial services in an accounting role is essential, with knowledge of trade finance products being highly desirable.

Required Qualifications: Proficiency in Japanese or bilingual in English and Japanese
