Join a dedicated team in a fulfilling, remote role with the Rare Genomics Institute, contributing to the impactful RareShare initiative. As a part of our mission, you will utilize advanced online generative Artificial Intelligence tools to create detailed, disease-specific informational content for our web-based communities. The Scientific Content Specialist will independently evaluate, refine, and enhance AI-generated information to ensure scientific precision and accessibility for a general audience. Opportunities may also arise to assist in the production of podcasts and newsletters that inform and educate. Engage with the intricate science surrounding rare disease diagnosis and treatment, and play a vital role in sharing this knowledge with those who need it most.

As a Volunteer with Rare Genomics Institute, you will actively participate in our educational outreach efforts, collaborating with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and disease-specific organizations to disseminate accurate and timely information online.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the RareShare team to develop and review informative content related to rare diseases for our website and other platforms.
  • Participate in bi-weekly team meetings to strategize and implement various initiatives.
  • Possibly recruit and oversee additional volunteers, including student interns, to support the team's objectives.
  • Contribute to the overarching goals of the Rare Genomics Institute and its RareShare program.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a life sciences or biomedical discipline.
  • Proficient in interpreting, critically evaluating, and verifying complex scientific and medical information related to rare diseases.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Skilled in using generative AI tools and writing software.
  • A commitment of 5-10 hours per week is expected.
  • Adept at working both independently and collaboratively to meet established objectives.
