Job Responsibilities

T Magazine is in search of an Assistant Photo Manager with a robust background in both print and digital storytelling. In this capacity, you will:
  • Oversee two photo editors responsible for comprehensive photo research for both print and digital formats.
  • Manage and uphold budgets and contracts associated with photo shoots.
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently across diverse subjects such as fashion, travel, still life, interiors, and special features.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Photography to orchestrate photo shoots for all magazine sections and the website.
  • Source freelance photographers, producers, stylists, and other creative professionals for various photo projects.
  • Engage with the Director of Photography to negotiate vendor fees for studios, photo labs, and agencies.
  • Ensure timely processing and approval of invoices related to photo shoots.
  • Work alongside editorial and design teams to create multimedia features.
  • Meet with photographers and industry professionals to discover new talent and stay updated on art trends.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews and provide mentorship to emerging photographers.
  • Support and uphold our commitment to journalistic independence and our mission to seek the truth.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in producing creative photography across various genres.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with top editors, writers, designers, and photo editors.
  • Understanding of journalistic ethics and standards.
  • Familiarity with leading creatives in the fields of art, photography, and video.
  • Strong teamwork skills with editorial and creative teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in identifying and nurturing new talent.
  • Experience across multiple platforms, including photography, video, and social media.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and mentoring junior staff.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Compensation
