Job Description:

Barron's is seeking a passionate visual storyteller with a deep background in photo research to cover a 6-month maternity leave beginning September 3rd. The ideal candidate is able to dig deep to find supporting images for highly complex financial and business stories. This Photo Editor will be part of a three-person photo team and will report to the Director of Photography.

This full-time hybrid role is based in NYC, in office 3 days per week, and will be covering the 8am-4pm shift.

We're looking for somebody who has...

5+ years in an editorial department or newsroom role

Great communication skills

Excellent journalistic judgment and integrity

Knowledge of news, politics, finance

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, juggling and meeting hourly, daily and weekly deadlines

Experience producing different genres of photography (with an emphasis on strong portraiture)

Great image research and editing skills, with a refined eye for engaging photography

Experience contracting with and negotiating with both freelance photographers and photo agencies, managing contracts and invoices for assignments made

An existing network of artists with the ability to identify fresh and emerging talent

Attention to detail in matching photos to news relevance, tone of the article and style of brand

Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop required

Ability to create photo illustrations and to shoot in studio a plus
