Job Title: Reception and Placement Caseworker

Job Summary:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Reception and Placement Caseworker to join our team. As a key member of our resettlement program, you will provide critical support to refugees and immigrants, helping them navigate their new environment and achieve self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough intake services with clients to assess their needs and develop personalized self-sufficiency plans.
  • Coordinate pre- and post-arrival services, ensuring clients have access to essential resources such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation.
  • Provide direct support, referrals, and advocacy to clients, addressing their unique challenges and promoting their attainment of established goals.
  • Monitor client progress, making adjustments to plans as needed, and ensuring the effective use of available resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to build relationships and leverage resources for the benefit of clients.
  • Utilize personal vehicle and/or public transportation to travel and transport clients and materials as needed.
  • May train and lead volunteers and interns, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in human services, with a strong background in working with refugee and/or immigrant populations.
  • Excellent relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills, with the ability to effectively communicate in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-starter with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to prioritize duties, manage time effectively, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC's clients desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
