The Northrop Grumman Space Components, Deployables Operating Unit stands as a premier provider of sophisticated Deployable Reflectors, Solar Arrays, Booms, and various structures and mechanisms for spacecraft and related applications. Additionally, this unit designs and manufactures microwave electronic warfare and slotted waveguide antennas for aircraft, naval, and space uses. We are in search of a Project Manager 2 to bolster the Program Management division at our facility.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Deployables Director of Programs or the Program Management Product Leader, the Project Manager 2 will play a pivotal role in supporting essential programs within the Goleta business portfolio, particularly antennas for various applications. This position demands a technical foundation, leadership potential, and collaborative interpersonal skills, along with proven experience in navigating a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced, and strategically vital operational unit.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between program management and interdisciplinary engineering teams throughout the proposal, design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and delivery stages of products Collaborate with the Program Management team to set milestones and ensure compliance with master plans and schedules Anticipate and identify potential challenges, understanding their implications on other areas Review and manage budgets and timelines, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts; prepare status reports for stakeholders Evaluate project challenges and devise solutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction objectives Engage in failure root cause analysis and corrective actions as necessary Facilitate the transition of designs to manufacturing, collaborating with the technical team to streamline manufacturing and assembly processes, achieving required delivery rates and cost reduction targets Assist in proposal development for change orders and new business opportunities, as well as strategic planning Cultivate relationships with customers and suppliers to promote open communication regarding project requirements and supplier capabilities

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field with 2 years of Project Management experience or experience leading tasks on schedule as either project lead or integrated program team lead; OR one year of experience with a master's degree. An additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Experience in a project/technical lead role supporting customers Ability to communicate effectively across various organizational levels with excellent presentation skills Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities Proven analytical, technical, strategic, and problem-solving capabilities Highly proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of Program or Project Management experience or similar roles (e.g., Lead IPT or Lead NPT or Systems Engineering lead) Familiarity with earned value management Experience in the aerospace or defense sector Knowledge of Antennas and RF Engineering Experience in program execution Gated design development experience (PDR, CDR) US Government security clearance or eligibility to obtain one

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

Travel to customer sites may be required up to 5-10% of the time, both domestically and internationally Salary Range: $72,100 - $108,100. This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may qualify for Long Term Incentives. Furthermore, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
