We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineering Specialist to become part of our team in Goleta, CA. This position entails overseeing the technical execution of projects through a comprehensive approach to design, development, evaluation, and modification of products throughout their life cycle. You will serve as the lead for the business unit in strategic planning regarding emerging technological research and advancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical liaison and provide support for business development initiatives.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of projects while offering guidance to clients and departments at various levels.
  • Serve as a point of technical escalation and resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Authorize non-conformance dispositions.
  • Lead design reviews, testing plans, and procedures to ensure relevance to current systems and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
  • Create system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test protocols.
  • Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop detailed requirements.
  • Establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall product development.
  • Evaluate performance using established criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership for projects within the programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and the client.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, staffing, and budget to ensure they are well-defined and maintained.
  • Function as the technical lead for a program or project team.
  • Manage project costs through meticulous oversight of system intent, aligning resources with project phases, and approving expenditures.
  • Define, generate, review, and present required project documentation.
  • Some travel may be necessary, averaging 10-15%, primarily local with occasional overnight trips.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in developing, designing, manufacturing, and testing production hardware.
  • A comprehensive System Level perspective with prior experience leading technical teams.
  • Familiarity with space mechanism design and aerospace standards.
  • Proficient in CAD and PDM Systems.
  • Knowledge of drafting with an understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance analysis capabilities.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting project/program updates to various stakeholders.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis processes.
Desirable Skills
  • M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related space discipline.
  • Experience with PDM Pro, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop, NASTRAN, or ANSYS is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace guidelines such as GSFC-STD-7000A (GEVS), AIAA S, NASA-STD-5017, MMPDS, etc.
  • Experience with Graphite and Fiberglass composites, Photovoltaics, flexible circuits, and printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Experience in the design, manufacturing, and verification of PV systems and composite structures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint and Teams; experience with Microsoft Project is a plus.
  • Training and Certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated in applying engineering principles, concepts, and practices of mechanical/aerospace engineering to independently execute assignments.
