Job Summary:

The Director of Marketing & Events will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing strategy to increase visibility and support sales efforts. This includes creating and managing brand marketing graphics, promoting special editorial packages and reader contests, and overseeing content for social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an annual marketing and events plan to increase visibility and support sales efforts
  • Build and maintain the Bethesda Magazine brand in the local market
  • Support advertising sales efforts through promotion, sales materials, and other means
  • Maximize visibility of Bethesda Magazine's print and digital portfolio
  • Manage and expand a profitable events business
  • Create and manage brand marketing graphics to ensure consistency of brand and messaging in all communications and design
  • Handle promotion and outreach for special editorial packages and reader contests
  • Oversee content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and Threads

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of marketing and event management experience, ideally with a media company
  • Experience with marketing programs that encompass print and digital
  • Experience and aptitude using the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience and aptitude using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience and aptitude working with email platforms
  • Experience and aptitude creating, implementing, and tracking social media
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in creating and adhering to budgets
  • College degree a plus
  • Knowledge of Montgomery County, Maryland a plus
