The ideal Plant Controller will possess a strong technical background and be a collaborative team member, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences. We are looking for an analytical thinker who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the formulation of the annual operating budget for controllable expenses and capital investments.
- Conduct variance analysis against budgeted expenses and support the reforecasting of costs throughout the fiscal year.
- Oversee the annual product cost standard setting process, ensuring timely updates and accurate product cost calculations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including complex adjustments and analytical schedules.
- Analyze financial data from the plant, including cost center reports and inventory valuations, and prepare detailed flux analysis and ad hoc financial reports.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end financial reporting.
- Conduct root cause analysis for discrepancies and implement process improvements.
- Identify and execute strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and service quality.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external partners regarding accounting matters.
- Lead special projects, either independently or as part of a cross-functional team, ensuring timely execution.
- Utilize data analytics to support informed business decisions.
- Facilitate the implementation of accounting policies and provide training to plant accounting staff, while promoting strong internal controls in collaboration with the audit team.
- Maintain secure and organized records of all accounting-related documentation.
- Ensure accurate job aids are available for all assigned responsibilities.
Core Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of eight years of experience in accounting or finance.
- At least six years of experience in a manufacturing setting, collaborating with plant management on cost analysis.
- Experience in developing financial justifications for capital projects and performance enhancements.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, graphs, and pivot tables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex processes.
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strategic and creative thinking skills for developing innovative solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented mindset, focused on achieving departmental goals.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
- Experience with SAP software.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
