Job Title: Controller

The Wilderness Society is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our Finance team. As a key member of our leadership team, the Controller will be responsible for leading a team of accounting professionals and ensuring the accuracy and transparency of our financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the accounting team in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, including GAAP compliance and regulatory filings.
  • Develop and implement effective internal controls and risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare and present financial statements and other financial data to stakeholders.
  • Manage and record accounting data to facilitate ongoing and ad-hoc financial and operational analyses.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of finance or accounting experience, including 7+ years of leadership experience.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Experience with financial systems, including general ledger, expense management, and payroll systems.
