Position Summary:

The Lead Mechanical Engineer for Loudspeaker Systems will play a pivotal role in the design and development of professional loudspeaker systems under the Electro-Voice brand. This position requires collaboration with both internal teams and external engineering partners to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of performance and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop innovative loudspeaker products, both passive and powered.
  • Oversee the product lifecycle from initial concept through to mass production.
  • Create and simulate structural suspension systems for loudspeakers.
  • Conduct validation processes for structural components in compliance with industry standards.
  • Optimize product designs for efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and simulate enclosures, waveguides, and passive crossovers.
  • Assemble and test prototype loudspeakers and related systems.
  • Engage in hands-on design iterations to refine product functionality.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including 3D models and bills of materials.
  • Assess loudspeaker system performance and reliability, identifying potential failure modes.
  • Establish validation plans and testing protocols for speaker systems and components.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Lead project teams in collaboration with project management, quality assurance, and procurement.
  • Design cost-effective solutions while monitoring project expenses.
  • Support sample and pre-production builds, both remotely and on-site.
  • Collaborate with quality and service teams to address ongoing quality challenges.
Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in structural mechanical design or loudspeaker systems engineering.
  • Proficiency in technical computation tools such as MATLAB, Python, or Mathcad.
  • Experience with materials and processes including wood construction, plastics molding, and metal forming.
  • A strong passion for high-quality product development in the audio industry.
  • Ability to innovate within a leading R&D team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including international travel.
  • Flexibility to work on-site with some hybrid options available.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with current industry standards and advancements in loudspeaker technology.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary teamwork involving project management, quality, and logistics.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experience with multi-physics FEA software, such as COMSOL.
  • Experience collaborating with global manufacturing partners.
  • Knowledge of certification processes with UL and CE.
  • Experience in risk assessment methodologies such as DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • Familiarity with document control and product data management systems, preferably SAP.
