About the Role

The Sustainability Manager plays a pivotal role in implementing and advancing Tulane University's sustainability goals and climate action plan. This position requires a high degree of collaboration, working closely with various stakeholders across the university, including faculty, staff, students, and alumni, to develop and execute successful sustainability programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sustainability programming and initiatives to promote environmental stewardship and reduce the university's environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to develop and execute engagement programming, including events and volunteer opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to students and student organizations for the Office of Sustainability, providing guidance and support on sustainability-related initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date on current best practices in engagement programming and communications for sustainability in higher education.
  • Support sustainability data collection and analysis for university sustainability reporting tasks, including AASHE STARS and annual greenhouse gas inventory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to advance the university's sustainability goals.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Utilize software programs, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and MailChimp, to support sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3 years of related experience, or 9 years of experience with a High School Diploma (or Equivalent).
  • Experience working in a university or educational setting with adults, young adults, and teens.
  • Experience with data-driven analysis to improve engagement and/or environmental impacts.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
