YOUR ROLE
Under the guidance of the Clinic Manager and Senior Clinic Manager, the Healthcare Support Specialist will assist patients at the Samaritan House Clinic by providing vital information, services, and support. Responsibilities include direct client interaction, such as taking vital signs, and assisting with front office operations. Familiarity with electronic health record systems is essential, and candidates must demonstrate technological proficiency. This position requires a bilingual candidate fluent in Spanish to effectively serve our predominantly Spanish-speaking clientele.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred and Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- AA Degree in a medical-related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute for formal education; Certification as a California Medical Assistant is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office setting, including supply management, infection control, and maintaining a safe and effective work environment with a patient-centered focus.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bilingual and bicultural English/Spanish proficiency is required.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and familiarity with medical electronic health record systems.
- Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation and manage patient scheduling efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to analyze ambiguous information with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work within a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credible relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND BACKGROUND CHECK
Candidates must possess the physical, visual, and auditory capabilities to perform essential job functions and respond to emergencies with or without reasonable accommodations. Background checks will be conducted prior to employment commencement. The role requires working in a clinic environment with occasional interruptions, including repetitive hand/arm motions, extended periods of standing or sitting, and the ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute front and back-office tasks while delivering exceptional medical assistance to clinic patients and providers.
- Conduct patient pre-screening and maintain accurate patient records, including verification of information and recording medical histories.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality by managing medical records and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
- Coordinate ancillary tests ordered by physicians and manage patient scheduling.
- Maintain a clean and professional waiting area and ensure a safe work environment.
- Oversee medical supply inventory and management.
- Perform general front office duties, including telephone reception and appointment scheduling.
- Ensure timely and accurate data entry into the agency's electronic health record system.
- Assist with various medical procedures as directed by physicians.
- Uphold high ethical standards and professionalism in all interactions.
- Participate in agency events and training sessions as required.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
