Account Executive Job Description

The Account Executive plays a pivotal role in directing and coordinating assigned projects on a busy retail account. Reporting to the Account Supervisor/and or Account Director, this individual is responsible for ensuring the sound, proper, and timely execution of all assigned work, including marketing needs such as Video/TV, Social, Digital, Website, OOH, and Print.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the creative process for Digital, Social, Web, and Video/TV projects, ensuring alignment with overarching strategy.
  • Create work orders based on previous ads or new creative briefings to guarantee alignment with overarching strategy.
  • Open work orders in the system, assign job numbers, specs, and direction, and work closely with creative teams to ensure creative is being done correctly.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors as needed to ensure all work has been uploaded and delivered on-time and to spec.
  • Manage timelines and set due dates for various stages of job completion, ensuring projects stay on track.
  • Quality Control: Check work against original work orders or creative briefs to ensure on-strategy execution.
  • Agency Support: Oversee the Account Coordinator in tasks such as file organization, meeting support, daily priorities, and weekly status documents.

  • Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive relationship with the client and internal teams.
  • High attention to detail: Review all work to ensure accuracy.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication: Organize thoughts in a logical, clear, and concise manner.
  • Clear communication with multiple stakeholders: A good Account Executive must be a thinker, not a messenger.
  • Organizing/planning: Handle workflow on assigned projects and revise plans when required.
  • Taking initiative: Work independently, yet collaboratively, as a self-starter.
  • Decision making capabilities: Make realistic and workable commitments, and recommend sound solutions and ideas.
  • Ability to problem solve: Offer suggestions and ideas to find solutions to clients' needs.
  • Flexibility with schedule: Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage Excel spreadsheets: Proficient in Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
