Director of Accounting Job Description

At UCLA Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of our accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of accounting professionals to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including the coordination and review of the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Prepare and maintain financial schedules, conduct complex analyses, and prepare detail and summary financial reports.
  • Develop and maintain systems and workflows to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounting records.
  • Work closely with the CFO and FP&A team to prepare the annual Operating Budget and variance analyses.
  • Coordinate with auditors and tax accountants for the annual independent audit and 990 tax returns.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or closely related field.
  • 5+ years minimum experience, including 2+ years in public accounting.
  • Experience in an accounting leadership role with demonstrated managerial accomplishments.
  • Healthcare experience (preferably in a FQHC / Community Health Center at an organization with $50M+ revenues).
  • Audit, Compliance, General Ledger and Financial Reporting experience.
  • Fund or Not-for-Profit accounting experience.
  • Advanced Excel Skills, including Pivot Tables, V-Lookup's, and Logic Functions.
  • Experience with Accounting Software such as Blackbaud Financial Edge, SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft, or Oracle JD Edwards.
  • Excellent accuracy, precision in math, analytical skills, and organizational skills.
  • CPA preferred.
