Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Leave Management Specialist to join our team at Unum. As a Leave Management Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our employees receive the support they need during times of leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process new leaves and conduct daily follow-ups to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Determine eligibility and availability of leave time for employees requesting leave under FMLA, state, and corporate protections.
- Generate and communicate necessary documentation to comply with FMLA regulations and customer procedures.
- Review medical certifications and other documentation submitted, consulting with Nurse Case Managers and IME units as needed.
- Determine the appropriate status of leave under FMLA and state leave regulations, considering regulatory requirements, company-specific requirements, and analysis of documentation received.
- Communicate medical or absence information with internal units, including STD and Intake.
- Manage leaves through duration, reporting status to employers, employees, and other internal units.
- Respond to leave questions and issues from employees or employer contacts.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Leave Management training program, passing score on the final exam, and quality audit and mentor sign-off.
- 4-year degree or similar experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
- Strong business communication skills, including telephone, email, and written communication.
- Knowledge of Windows and general keyboard and computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Access.
- Decision-making and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of STD processes and work flows and insurance industry knowledge preferred.

Unum offers a competitive salary range of $36,000.00-$59,400.00, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare benefits, insurance benefits, performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match.
