Job Summary

The Texas General Land Office is seeking a highly skilled Grant Specialist II-IV to join our CDR-Grant Management program area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing grant development, coordination, and administration work, working under varying levels of supervision, with significant latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze grant work budgets, determining spending trends, identifying areas of concern, and developing requirements for grant programs.
  • Perform grant management and oversight throughout the life cycle of the grant, ensuring compliance with program guidance and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison and representative for the GLO-CDR program with constituents, elected officials, their assignees, vendor representatives, and the public.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in public administration, business, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in the administration, development, coordination, and monitoring of grants, with varying levels of experience required for each level of the Grant Specialist II-IV position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Grant Coordinator, Grant Specialist, or Grant Manager.
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery and/or community development block grant work.
  • Experience with oversight of federal funds or federally funded programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to grants and contract administration, research and budgeting processes, business administration principles and practices, including financial management and accounting, and program planning and development.
  • Skill in grant preparation, development, evaluation, and monitoring, report writing, budget development and monitoring, and the use of a computer and applicable software.
  • Skill in effectively communicating both in writing and verbally, providing exceptional customer service in person and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulations, evaluate contracts, evaluate fiscal data for reasonableness, necessity, and conformity with grant requirements, and assign and/or supervise the work of others.
Physical Requirements

This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work, with mobility (moving around the work-site) routinely required to carry out some duties. The job also requires extensive computer, telephone, and client/customer contact and communication, as well as the ability to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
