Job OverviewGeneral Purpose

The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for devising effective logistics strategies to ensure the seamless transportation and distribution of products from a centralized hub, as well as managing vendor shipping both domestically and internationally. This role oversees the performance and maintenance of the organization’s transportation systems to deliver efficient service while maximizing performance, value, and profitability. The position includes managing store-to-customer deliveries through both private fleets and third-party carriers.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics and Transportation Oversight
  • Direct and manage all facets of international and domestic inbound, outbound, and parcel/LTL transportation initiatives.
  • Translate overarching strategies into specific objectives, tactics, and actionable plans for the internal team.
  • Utilize and maintain the Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize freight routing, assess carrier performance, and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Facilitate the selection and negotiation of transportation providers and manage transportation contracts.
  • Engage in various network optimization projects and activities.
  • Address freight delays, carrier issues, or vendor challenges; escalate risks or opportunities as necessary.
  • Conduct regular meetings with carrier representatives to assess performance, resolve issues, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop and manage store-to-customer delivery processes through private fleets and third-party carriers.
  • Collaborate across departments to meet financial projections.

Compliance and Regulatory Support

  • Establish policies and implement compliance training regarding HAZMAT and Homeland Security shipping requirements.
  • Oversee the due diligence process for international customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure anti-corruption compliance.
  • Manage the Product Classification Request program to guarantee accurate classification of goods for import and export.
  • Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain accurate shipment documentation, including necessary import/export paperwork.

Team Leadership

  • Utilize leadership skills to drive change and execution.
  • Develop and oversee onboarding training for new team members.
  • Establish performance metrics and hold the team accountable for results.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to foster team growth and engagement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain or operations management.
  • Experience with ERP and TMS systems is essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present information.
  • Proficient mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and volume assessments.
  • Analytical abilities to review data and identify trends.
  • Forklift certification or the willingness to obtain certification.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work from multiple locations and/or remotely.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This position requires the following physical demands:

  • Regularly sit, use hands for handling or touching, talk, hear, and occasionally lift up to seventy-five pounds.
  • Special vision requirements include close vision.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, and fax machines.
  • The office environment is typically quiet.
