Job Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Supplier Quality Engineer III to develop and execute supplier quality processes for the design, test, and manufacture of launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related technologies for various spaceflight systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance, supplier management, and aerospace engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the suitability and stability of current and potential avionics and electrical equipment suppliers regarding quality and technical capability.
- Lead suppliers through resolving discrepancies, including corrective and preventive actions as well as recovery plans.
- Support program reviews with key suppliers to ensure understanding of long-term business objectives.
- Communicate supplier performance to senior management.
- Participate in supplier pre-ship reviews, quality audits, hardware acceptance, and corrective actions.
- Focus on nonconformance reduction activities.
- Perform source inspection activities at supplier locations as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or manufacturing processes.
- 10+ years' industry experience in a manufacturing field with at least 5 years in a supplier quality engineering role.
- Technical background and experience with one or more of the following aerospace commodities: avionics, electronics, and PCB assembly practices.
- Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time and have a valid driver's license.
- Quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Self-initiation and excellent time management skills.
- Competency to stay closely connected to your leadership structure and operational customers while working remotely.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations.
- Relevant experience in performing supplier source inspections.
- Relevant experience in AS9100 auditing.
- Relevant experience with GIDEP.
- IPC certifications/endorsements.
- American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification.
- Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification.
