Subsurface Utility Engineering Technician

Compensation: $35.00 / hour

Overview

As a Subsurface Utility Engineering Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our New Mexico operations by gathering field data and managing various projects concurrently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire and uphold all necessary safety certifications.
  • Engage with project teams, client representatives, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Effectively manage time and organize tasks to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines and client expectations.
  • Identify existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical methods.
  • Precisely and efficiently gather field data.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure client-specific requirements are fulfilled in both office and field settings.
  • Interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings, and highway design plans.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the company's strategic objectives.
  • Must be capable of lifting 75 pounds, walking for extended durations, and working in various weather conditions, including evenings and weekends when necessary, as well as traveling for overnight assignments.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • 1-7 years of experience in utility designating and locating services.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; further education or training is advantageous.
  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Willingness to travel out of town and work overtime as needed.
  • Capable of walking several miles daily.
  • Good driving skills with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all climates.
  • Professional interaction with clients.
  • Familiarity with ASCE 38 guidelines and associated quality levels is a plus.
  • Experience with survey, 811, or Bluestakes is advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills; knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar software is beneficial.
  • Assist with additional projects as assigned.
